Sue made Democratic values and grassroots activism shine on the Central Coast and Colorado is lucky to get her.Toast & Roast our friend Sue Broidy as she departs Ventura County! When: Wednesday, February 17th, 5-8 pm Where: My Florist Wine Café and Bakery76 South Oak Street, Ventura, 93001 Cost: $30 per person includes dinner and a $10 donation to Ventura County Democrats’ election activities Menu choices: Honey Mustard Chicken Paillard - Free-range chicken seasoned with herbs de Provence & honey mustard rub – served paillard style, with rosemary-garlic mashers, charred grape tomatoes & shallot beurre blanc. Not Your Mama’s Meat Loaf – Sweet and savory ground prime beef, herbs & seasoning baked together & topped with delicious pan gravy, served with garlic mashers. Macaroni & Triple Cheese – macaroni pasta smothered with triple-cheese & baked in an earthenware pot, topped with a drizzle of truffle oil, served with a Lemon-Thyme Salad. Openly Gay Democrat to Lead California Assembly as Speaker John Perez (D-L.A.) was unanimously elected Speaker of the California State Assembly by the Democratic Caucus. John's candidacy was actively supported by the Stonewall Democrats statewide through the Democratic Party's LGBT Caucus as well as Equality California and other progressive organizations. John becomes the first openly gay Speaker of the California Assembly. His election will be formalized at a future session of the Assembly. Pedro Nava, 35th Assembly District representative and candidate for Attorney General, said "California got it right today. This is great news. John's going to be a wonderful speaker and a great ambassador for all the people.". Yes: It is a fundamental right under the U.S. Constitution
